How do I permanently disable Windows updates from the registry?

Run regedit.exe from the computer where you want to disable Windows Update. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer to authorize them. From the Edit menu, choose New, DWORD Value. Enter the promotional name NoWindowsUpdate and press Enter.

To prevent Windows 10 from automatically updating computers, follow these steps to order an update. This is not a 100% guaranteed solution, but many customers complain that it works successfully. There are 4 places to change settings:

Click start and type REGEDIT in the menu.
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsWindowsUpdateAU
In AU (automatic update) folder, type new KEY with exact side in space, right click, NEW/DWORD (32bit) value
Name each of our new keys NoAutoUpdate and press Enter.
“Double-click the key you just created and change its hexadecimal true value using one of the following 1 options:
“Automatically download and install all versions (default setting)< br> 2 – “Notify me to copy and notify about installation.
3 – “Automatically receive and notify about the installation.”
4 – “AutomaticallyDownload and program each installation.”
5 – Local “Allow administrator to set preferences”. €
NOTE. While you can use almost any of these values, it’s correct to change the value to 2 to adjust the “Notify me when downloading and installing” setting. Using this fairness will prevent Windows 10 versions from downloading and automatically notify you when new updates are available.
Click OK and close the Registry Editor. Restart your laptop for the changes to take effect.
